How A Court Order And Private Confidentiality Agreement Failed To Conceal Cosby’s Past

The name of the case was Andrea Constand vs. William H. Cosby, Jr. and it was brought in the United States District Court for the District of Pennsylvania.  The deposition which recently came to light which contained the new sensational revelations was given by Cosby during the discovery phase of the case against the famous comedian. At the time, the judge presiding over the case sealed the records of the case while attorneys from both sides conducted discovery. While that was going on the two parties came to a settlement, signed a private confidentiality agreement and the temporary seal — and the case for that matter — was forgotten until accusations of sexual misconduct re-emerged against Cosby and the Associated Press asked the court to unseal the documents and the court agreed.
